King Charles has been pictured leaving Windsor Castle on Friday shortly after it was announced that his longtime friend Ian Farquhar had died at the monarch's Highgrove estate. 

Mr Farquhar, Mumbai vlog 78, who was also a close friend of Camilla, served as the Queen Mother's equerry and in the Queen's Own Hussars, a cavalry regiment of the British Army.

The renowned huntsman lived in a rented farmhouse at Highgrove and it is said he died there on Wednesday. 

King Charles III appeared sombre as he was driven away on Friday to an unknown destination.

He first got to know his friend after Prince William briefly dated Rose Farquhar after finishing his A-Levels at Eton in 2000.

The pair met at the Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire and she was described as the Prince of Wales's 'first love' at the time.
